EU: Jan Tomek and David Mergans with a Save
Another week is behind us and that’s why we are going to take a look at Czech in the European leagues.
Jan Tomek played as a closer for Guggenberer Legionäre as his team was leading against Mainz. While pitcher allowed a run, his team won 7-6 and Tomek added another save to his statistics.
Jiří Vavruša once again played for ASAK Athletics. He entered the first game as a pinch-hitter, to record a hit and a run. His team won 11-0 against Dornbirn Indians in the end after seven innings. In the second game Vavruša played on the mound as a reliever and he threw 2 innings, where he allowed 4 run and 4 strikeouts. Athletics lost 0-7 in the end.
David Mergans added another great performance in Italian Seria B, once again as a reliever. This time he pitched against Junior Parma B.C. and Milano opponent loaded the bases with one out in the sixth inning. Mergans handled the situation perfectly and he closed the inning with two strikeouts. In the eighth inning, however, Giannetti scored the solo homerun against Mergans. Despite this Milano won 4-1 and Czech youngster earned his first save of the season.
