EXL: Lineup of the Month – April
Same as in the previous year, we were asked to help out with picking the Lineup of the Month. And here is the first month.
Probably the toughest choice was for the pitcher. This time we had to spent quiet some time to decide between Hroši’s Jon Kennedy or Tempo’s Ethan Skuija. The first one didn’t allow any runs and ended up with ERA 0.00. Skuija allowed only one run, but was better in WAR. Yet Kennedy threw less innings due to a back injury. In the end we took WHIP and .BAA into consideration where Kennedy fared much better. His Game Score in the games where he started was better on average. Skuija was hurt by the firt game, where his score was 60 and WHIP 1.500. Nevertheless, it was still close and were someone else to pick the pitcher position the decision could have gone the other way.
On the other hand, picking a reliever was simple as April saw Jeffrey Barto to have a solid month. He threw 16 innings with ERA 0.56 and earned 2 saves.
For the position players we picked players for the position where they played. That’s why Martin Červenka is not listed as a catcher, but third baseman. It was Pabel Manzanero whom we picked for the catcher position instead, who also had the best BA during April. It should come as little surprise that many of the picked players are from Draci as 5 of 11 players in the lineup are from there. Matěj Menšík from Technika also got picked as his OBP was third best in the league and he also finished among the best in WAR.
The second close contest was for the first baseman position, namely between Martin Mužík and Michal Zelenka. In the end it was decided based on slightly higher OBP and Zelenka took the spot. However, same as with the pitcher position, both players would deserve the spot in the lineup.
