EXL: Tempo Praha still without a loss in TOP 6
The first round of TOP 6 finished with three games on Sunday. This time it was a tough day for the home teams as none was able to win.
Hroši Brno – Draci Brno 0-10 (7 inn.)
If Hroši hoped to deal another loss to Draci, their plan started to fall apart in the first inning. Kellen Croce, who started the game on the mound, didn’t have a good outing when he allowed 6 runs in the first inning. Hroši substituted him in the following inning after he allowed another run.
On the other hand, Draci starter Juan Jaime, starting for the first time in Extraliga, had a dominant day and was on his way to a Perfect Game until the sixth inning, where he didn’t allow any run and striked out 8 batters. Jan Nebenführ then finished the job in the seventh inning, while Draci led 10-0. He kept Hroši scoreless, wrapping up the game early. Pabel Manzanero had a solid game with 2 hits and 5 RBI.
Arrows Ostrava – Eagles Praha 2-10
Ostrava had their mind set on a sweep after winning the first two games of the series. And things were looking well for them at the beginning as they were leading 2-1 after three innings. In the fourth inning, however, their defense made 3 errors and Eagles took the lead. In the fifth inning Prague team further increased their lead with a 2 RBI double from Šimon Blažek. Arrows then sent in Matěj Satoria who substituted Alec Lemmon. New pitcher was welcomed by a three run homerun from Martin Červenka.
Andrew Grieder had a quality start for Eagles, only allowing 2 runs in 6 innings. Tadeáš Zavadil only allowed two hits without any runs for the remainder of the game. Eagles thus took an away win after loosing two games at home.
Třebíč Nuclears – Tempo Praha 1-6
Tempo followed with the day’s domination of the away teams as they won 6-1 against Nuclears. Foreign duo Ethan Skuija and Keibert Petit had a lion share in the win. The first one threw 7 innings, only allowing one run and striking out 10 batters. The second one dominated offensively, earning 4 hits and 3 RBI.
The home team started Jeffrey Barto on the mound, who was substituted by Orlando Romero in the fifth. Romero was, however, injured in the sixth inning and had to be substituted. Třebíč will hope that the injury won’t be serious, as it would complicated their chance to play in the semi finals. The lost series against Tempo is as a complication since Prague team is the only one in TOP 6 yet to lose a game.
