Czechs beat Old World Baseball in preparation to PBW
Czech national team played a friendly game against Old World Baseball, a team comprising of American players, a day before the start of Prague Baseball Week.
Czechs entered the game well, forcing the opponent’s starter to leave the mound in the first inning. They were walked from their first 3 PA, for Martin Mužík‚s grandslam homerun giving them 4-0 lead. In the end, fans saw three homeruns in the first inning, when Arnošt Dubový and Radim Novotný followed Mužík.
Old World Baseball had to wait for their first hit until the third inning, when Williams made a contact with Lukáš Pacal‚s pitch. But it wasn’t enough to get them a run. Czechs were able to increase their lead in the following half inning to 9-0. Kamil Pejchal scored the fourth Czech homerun in the sixth inning, rounding up the score to final 10-0.
Since Lukáš pitching trio (Hlouch, Pacal, Smejkal) didn’t allow any runs, the game finished on a mercy rule after seven innings. Czechs thus enter Prague Baseball Week in good spirit when they face Greece on Wednesday.
