EU: Serie B continued. Novák played in Confederation Cup
Last week belonged mainly to the international tournaments. But we could see Czechs in action despite that.
Italian Seria B continued with David Mergans getting a chance to play for Milano 1946. This time, he had to get into the game against ASD Codogno in the second inning, while his team was 0-3 behind, since Milano starter got injured. In the end, young Czech pitcher threw 7 innings, only allowing 2 runs. His team, nevertheless, narrowly lost 4-5. Milano now holds second spot in the group with 11 wins and 7 losses.
Martin Novák, currently in Swiss team Therwill Flyers player, played in Confederation Cup. Czech both batted and pitched. As a starter he played in the Saturday game against Vienna. However, he allowed 8 runs in 2 innings and Flyers, in the end, lost 11-13 in the important game. He then had 6 AB but no hits. Flyers finished last in Confederation Cup and Switzerland thus lost their spot for the 2023 tournament.
