FCq: Bartók helped Apollo to the second tournament win
The third game in Federations Cup qualifications saw Apollo Bratislava face Polish Barons Wroclaw. Bratislava team was able to get the win and increased their chance to get into the Sunday finals
Apollo started the game well when they scored the first run in the first inning. This was thanks to Alexander Václavík who sent home Adam Zacko. The same player earned more RBIs in the third inning when he scored in the second run. However, Bratislava made two errors in the bottom half of the inning. Their opponent was able to take advantage of it and came one run to tying the game.
Apollo earned their next hit thanks to Matej Škerlec, who was then sent home to increase Apollo’s lead to 3-1. Bratislava was leading 5-1 an inning later, thanks to a hit from Juraj Bartók.
Bartók was a clear MVP of the game for Bratislava. Not only he had one hit and a run, he also threw a complete game, only allowing one run. He needed 121 pitches to do so. Bratislava was efficient with their bats as they only needed 3 hits to get the win.
After winning 5-1, Apollo earned their second win of the tournament and they will play against Vojvodina for the semifinals spot. The win would ensure one of two possible spots in the finals for Bratislava team. The same could happen were they to lose, however, Apollo would need to rely on the others in that case.
