First League Promotion stage started with a close series between Hippos and Pelikans
Due to inclement weather Promotion stage of First League there was only one doubleheader played. In it Bučovice hosted Hippos.
If you were to come to the game a bit later, you probably were surprised. Hippos managed to score the first run, however, Pelikans quickly responded with 11 run. Brno starter Lukáš Macík had trouble with locating his pitches and walked 8 batters. In the end he was unable to throw even a half of an inning and Jakub Čudovský was tasked with stopping the home offense. Adam Kubečka was the most active batter with 4 hits and 4 run. In the end Pelikans won 16-3.
However, Hippos improved in the second game. Leadoff Marek Sláma opened with a solo homerun and visitors already had 8 runs after two innings. Home team was trying to find an adequate response, but they scored 3 runs less in two innings. Jan Kucin on Hippos mound threw a complete game allowing 7 runs, which was enough for Hippos to win 15-7. They were helped by 3 homeruns. Home pitchers walked 11 batters and hit 5 of them by a pitch. Pelikans defense also didn’t help the team much as they caused 4 errors. And thus both teams have record 1-1 after the first week.
