EC U12: Czechs won a dramatic duel against France
The second Czech game at U12 European Championship saw them face France and it was a dramatic duel to the final out. In the end, Czechs got an important win.
But the first half of the game was firmly in hands of the Czech team, who scored 4 runs in the second inning and took an early lead. They then increased it in the following inning, leading 6-1. Matouš Brabec was flawless at bat when he had 2 hits and 2 walks.
Brabec also started on the Czech mound, remaining there for three inning, only allowing 2 runs to French.
The 6-2 lead remained until the last inning, However, French started very well, when the first three batters reached the bases. Czech coaches substituted the pitcher, sending in Jan Vik. He first striked out a batter, but then, thanks to a hit and two walks, France came one run from tying the game. Czech defense, however, showed their skill and with an excellent double play at home and first base Czechs got to celebrate the second win of the tournament.
Matouš Procházka’s team are certain to play in the semifinals before their game against Germany. They will, however, play the game to determine who finishes the first in the group.
