EC U18: Slovakia beaten by Belgium in their second qualification game

A day after a win, Slovak U18 team continued in the qualification to European Championships. They played against a tough opponent, Belgium. Slovakia wasn’t able to get a better of them as they lost their first game of the tournament.

Belgium started quickly, as Jamie Peeters scored the first run in the first inning. Pitcher Slavomír Masác kept the second inning scoreless, but Belgium once again increased their lead in the third inning. Slovakia scored their first run in the bottom half of the inning, thanks to Andrej Jankovič.

Masác got in a tight spot in the fifth inning and he had to be substituted in the end. Belgium scored 6 runs in the inning and they created a substantial lead. Slovakia was only able to get one run back, the run that came after a defensive error. The game ended early on mercy rule.

Belgium won their second game of the tournament and is currently in the first spot in the table. Slovakia is currently 1-1, but they can improve it in the next game against Ukraine. Their next opponent is yet to play a game as all their games had to be postponed due to inclement weather.
