NoEXL: Extraliga teams are handling Promotion League
The weekend saw Promotion League continue. Extraliga teams solidified their position at the top of the table. On the other hand, there are still two teams without a win.
Skokani Olomouc – Technika Brno 7-25 (7 inn.), 9-13 and 1-11 (7 inn.)
While Technika lost in the first round against Hluboká, they got nothing but wins since. This time they faced against Olomouc, who too couldn’t stop Brno team. Technika outplayed them in the first game, when they had 25 runs from 25 hits. There were several Brno players who had a great game, but only Mário Gottschall had 5 hits.
The second game was much closer, as Skokani took 6-0 lead after three innings. However, Brno bats awoken after that. Technika added 10 runs to mount a comeback. While Skokani added two runs, it wasn’t enough to get them the win. But it was Adam Prudil, who hit Cycle, and outshone everyone else.
The first inning decided the winner of the third game, as Technika players had 5 hits and scored 4 runs. Duo Svatoslav Kraut and Parker Thode only allowed 2 hits for the remainder of the game. Skokani scored their only run after an error. Technika won all three games and is currently in the second place.
Sokol Hluboká - Olympia Blansko 7-1, 12-11 and 6-0
Hluboká also handled the games against the former Extraliga team, Blansko. In the first and third game, Olympia batter didn't cause much trouble to Sokol. William Parson even threw a complete game shutout in the third game, when he allowed 1 hit and striked out 17 batters.
The second game was, however, much more dramatic. Home team was leading 9-3 after four innings. But thanks to a good sixth inning Olympia managed to take the lead for a while. Hluboká tied the game in the bottom half of the inning and the 11-11 score remained unchanged until the ninth inning. Matěj Dvořák finished the game with a walkoff hit and Hluboká could celebrate the win. Martin Mužík was the best batter of the series, when he had 10 hits in 3 games and is currently the best batter of the league with BA .719, 23 hits, 23 RBI and 2.088 OPS.
Kotlářka Praha - Blesk Jablonec 5-1, 6-0 and 5-3
First League regular season winner Jablonec didn't hide their ambition to return to Extraliga. However, after six games, Blesk is still rather far away from the first two spots that would ensure their promotion. Worse yet, they are yet to win a game, as they were beaten three times by Kotlářka in the previous week. Praha team only allowed one run in Saturday doubleheader. In the third game, on their home field, Jablonec made 4 errors, which Kotlářka took advantage of and won 5-3. Prague team is currently the only first leaguer with more wins than losses and is close behind the two Extraliga teams.
