French Open will be played next year as well

French Valenciennes hosted the first edition of women’s baseball French Open this year. International tournament attracted 5 teams, mainly from France. And we can now look forward for the upcoming event as French Baseball and Softball Federation announced a call for organizers for the second edition today.

There’s thus a high probability we get to see the only annual international women’s baseball tournament in Europe next year. It is currently planned for 8th to 10th of April 2023.

There were 4 French teams playing the first edition, divided mainly by the leagues in which the players played. Belles Baseball, reigning WB-UK League champions, were the sole international team. In the end it was Normandie who took the first place, finishing undefeated with 4 wins. Hauts-de-France finished second with 2 wins and 2 losses. European Championship MVP Coralie Guillemin was also part of the tournament, playing for the winners from Normandie.

Federation announced the following edition will host up to 6 teams. It will be thus interesting to see who will play at the tournament.
