WEC: Czechs lost to Great Britain to start the championship
Czech women national team started Women’s European Championship on Wednesday, playing against Great Britain.
It was the first ever international game for the Great Britain. On the other hand, UK, unlike the Czech Republic, allows women to play baseball with men. Czechs were able to keep in touch with Brits for two innings. They also managed to get 5-4 lead in the second inning.
Unfortunately, Czechs made several errors and thanks to walks they allows Brits to get a substantial lead. Czechs responded with 5 runs, but this wasn’t enough to come close to their opponent. Kateřina Popelková was the first Czech to earn a hit.
Czechs thus lost their first game of the championship and they are yet to win an international game. They will get another chance on Thursday when they play France.
