Walkoff homerun from Marek Minařík gave Czech the first win in friendlies
Wednesday afternoon saw Czech national team play another friendly game against Germany. Czechs managed to get a win after losing to their opponent on Tuesday.
Czechs started Lukáš Ercoli, who didn’t allow any hits or walks in three innings he pitched. On the other hand, evergreen Enorbel Marguez allowed the first run of the game in the third inning, after Jakub Hajtmar reached the home base after double steal.
Germans scored in the fourth inning, as Daniel Aldrich scored in Aaron Altherr. The run came after pitching substitution when Ryan Johnson, who could strengthen Czech team in the qualification, came in for Ercoli. Germans even got the lead an inning later, when Marco Cardoso reached the home base.
Czechs, however, were ready to respond, Jakub Grepl hit a triple, to reach home as Milan Prokop hit double after him.
David Mergans walked Aaron Altherr in the ninth inning. He was then able to reach third base, but Czechs wouldn’t allow him to score a run. Pavel Chadim’s team managed to get the win in the end, as Marek Minařík’s walkoff homerun sealed the deal.
