Filip Čapka joins Australian Glenelg
It wasn’t unheard of that Czech player moved to Australia over winter to play baseball. Unfortunately, this practice virtually ceased in past two years as the borders closed due to pandemic. But this is about to change. The first Czech player to play in Australia over the winter is Filip Čapka.
Draci Brno and national team pitcher will play for Glenelg, the team that played 1st Division in Australian South league, and that already won it 8 times. The previous time the did, however, was back in 2015/2016 season, when Wesley Roemer, who also played in Extraliga, took the MVP award.
Čapka was the number one starter in Draci rotation in the previous season and he won the league title with them. He also ranked the first in Extraliga with 11 wins. He threw 42.3 innings with 3.62 ERA in the regular season, adding 59 innings in TOP6 and playoff, where he finished with 3.81 ERA and 61 SO.
