National Team started preparation against Valencia
Czech national team started their preparation for World Baseball Classic on Friday. The game was hosted by Valencia Astros, who were unable to beat Czechs.
Pavel Chadim’s team took the lead in the first half inning, after Jakub Kubica reached home base on catcher’s passed ball. Czechs continued adding more runs in the third inning. First, Milan Prokop scored inside-the-park homerun from the first pitch he faced. Next two runs came after errors, after which team captain Petr Zýma added one more run to top the inning.
Marek Krejčiřík continued what the team started in the fourth inning, after he stole two bases, for Jakub Hajtmar‚s hit to give him a chance to get the sixth inning. This wasn’t the last we heard of Hajtmar, who scored a two-run homerun in the sixth inning, giving Czechs 8-0 lead.
Czech coaches gave opportunity to several pitchers, who only allowed 3 hits and a run altogether. The run came in the bottom of the sixth inning after a solo homerun, which also became the last run scored in a positive outing for the Czech team.
It was also an opportunity to see William Escala wear Czech jersey for the first time. He played as a shortstop and got a walk and 2 SO.
