Czechs added another win before WBC
Czech national team played another friendly game in Japan, this time organized by Major League Baseball. Their opponent was one of the best amateur teams in the country, Miyazaki Umeda Gakuen.
Czechs started the game well, as they scored 4 runs in first two innings. Eric Sogard added his first RBI in Czech colors as well.
Marek Minařík started on the mound, allowing only one hit in two innings. He was substituted by Martin Schneider, who arrived in Japan over the weekend. In two innings he pitched, Japanese team managed to scored a run. However, it wasn’t until the fourth inning that we saw both offensives to flash. First, Czechs scored three runs after a series of hits, for Japanese to change the scored with a two-run homerun.
The score remained unchanged for three innings as Jeffrey Barto managed to stop the opponent and only allowed 2 hits and one walk in two innings. Michal Kovala continued on the same wave, however, young pitcher got pressured in the eighth inning as the opposing team loaded the bases. Kovala was able to get out of the jam and Umeda Gakuen only scored one run.
Lukáš Hlouch came to close the game, and he was able to do just that. With two strikeouts, Czechs added one more win before the main tournament.
Martin Červenka was the most successful batter of the team, finishing with 3 hits, 2 runs and 2 RBI.
