EXL: Hroši won the series against Hluboká. Tempo beat Eagles
Only two out of three games were played in Extraliga in Sunday, as weather didn’t allow for the second game of doubleheader between Hroši and Sokol to finish.
Hroši Brno – Sokol Hluboká 14-3 a 2-2 (interrupted)
Hroši played double header at home, with the first game being a substitution for the game from Hluboká. For this reason Sokol players were the home team. However, even that wasn’t enough to help them. The score was already 0-6 against them before the bottom half of the third inning. Men from southern Bohemia managed to score agianst Lukáš Ercoli when Martin Mužík scored a three run homerun. But this was all Sokol managed on the scoring side. Furthermore, Matěj Netopilík continued in the good performance from Ercoli as he didn’t allow any more runs scored. Hroši bats exploded in the ninth inning when they scored 7 runs and ensured the win.
After winning 14-3, Hroši were certain to win the series as well, and the third game would decide whether they would sweep it and become the first Extraliga team to do so this season. And they started well when they presed Rui Narasaki on the opponent’s mound. First, Brno managed a double steal, where Petr Čech scored the first run. A moment later James Jansen scored in the second run. Visitors responded in the third inning, when Martin Mužík tied the score with his 80th Extraliga homerun.
The score remained unchanged until the sixth inning. Then a torrential rain swept across the field and the game had to be interrupted and postponed to a different date.
Tempo Praha – Eagles Praha 12-5
Tempo need to win at least a game to avoid sweep. However, Eagles scored their first run in the first inning. In that moment, many may have suspected another solid win for Eagles, however, Tempo took the lead soon after. Martin Červenka‘s hit scored in the tying run in the following half inning and it was he who had a lion share in Tempo win, after he blasted a grand slam homerun in the second inning, and added another solo homerun later.
Jose Balaguera had a tough time on the mound and in the end allowed nine runs in the inning. He was the substituted by Tomáš Zavadil in the third inning. Eagles tried to correct the result in the following innings, but 5 runs weren’t enough to mount a comeback. Tempo thus won their second game of the season.
