EXL: No unbeaten teams left in Extraliga

Only four out of five games planned for Sunday were played in Extraliga. The game in Hluboká had to be postponed due to inclement weather.

Hroši Brno – Technika Brno 2-6 and 12-0 (7 inn.)

Hroši started the game with the best Extraliga pitcher of the previous season, Lukáš Ercoli. However, Technika was able to break his spell rat the very beginning, after Peter Saldana earned his first RBI in Brno colors. He earned his first hit an inning later, while adding another RBI, only a few moments after an RBI of Technika returnee Daniel Mráz. Technika could rely on Parker Thode, who threw a complete game only allowing 3 hits and 2 runs. This was enough for Technika to win their first game 6-2.

The second game saw Hroši start quickly after Willie Escala earned his first hit in Extraliga and Lukáš Trunkát sending him home right away. Tomáš Ondra on Hroši mound pitched a good game as he didn’t allow much to his opponents. In the end he stayed for 5 innings and allowed only 1 hit. Jimmy Jensen added two more innings. Hroši bats were excellent and home team collected hits, walks, but most importantly runs. Lukáš Trunkát finished with 3 hits and became the best batter for his team. Escala finished the game with 2 hits and 3 runs. Hroši could celebrate 12-0 win after 7 innings as they tied the series. The last game of the series will be played at the end of the regular season.

Tempo Praha – Draci Brno 10-4

Sunday game at Tempo was supposed to be a duel between two foreign pitchers. However, neither of them remained on the mound till 5th inning. Visiting Gabriel Morao had tougher of an outing when he walked 4 batters in the first inning. He needed 74 pitches to get through 3 innings, where he allowed 6 runs. Duran remained on the mound an inning longer for Tempo and he only allowed 1 run.

Draci didn’t help their pitcher in the defense, as they made 4 errors. Thanks to this Tempo grabbed the momentum. In the second inning, helped by a two run homerum from Martin Červenka, Tempo scored 5 runs. One of heroes from Japan Filip Smola was 2-for-3 and was walked 2 times. Ondřej Blažka, the ninth man of the lineup was perfect with 2 hits and 3 walks. Tempo won 10-4 against the reigning champions and the series is now tied.

Třebíč Nuclears – Eagles Praha 10-0 (7 inn.)

After losing 2 games at Krč, Nuclears needed to get a home win. That’s why they started with a playing manager Jeffrey Barto, who dulled Prague bats. In 5 innings he pitched he allowed 2 hits and striked out 7 batters. Eagles, on the other hand, had no luck. Their starter Jose Balaguera walked 6 batters in less than 3 innings. Furthermore the defense didn’t help him as they made a number of errors. Třebíč kept collecting runs, topped with a string 5th inning when they scored 7 of them.

Ryan Johnson came on the mound in the sixth inning and his goal was clear. Get the save. He was helped by the defense when Jeffrey Costello jumped to grab a ball in the outer field.

Seventh inning saw the home team scored 10th run, when Pavel Jozek‘s double sent home Vojtěch Šebacký and the game finished on mercy rule. Třebíč thus got their first win of the season.
