CB: Martin Zelenka named All-Region 10 catcher
Lower College Baseball postseason started. And the previous week will be a pleasant memory for Martin Zelenka.
Charleston Southern played 4 games in the previous week, but they only won one. It came against The Citadel, and Daniel Padyšák was a part of it. Czech pitcher started the game, but he only threw one inning, where he didn’t allow any batter on a base. CSU won the game 8-7 with a walk-off in the 9th inning. Padyšák also played in Sunday game where he entered in the 4th inning as the game was tied at 2-2. He threw 3.1 innings against High Point Panthers, who scored 3 runs against him 2 of which were due to a defensive error. Player who started his career with Kotlářka Praha then allowed a solo homerun in the 7th inning. CSU will play their last game of the regular season on Tuesday 9th.
North Greenville were unable to defend their Conference Carolinas title this year, when they lost both games they played. Marek Chlup didn’t have good games, as he didn’t get any hit. NGU got something to cheer for, when John Michael Faile tied NCAA DII record for homeruns (75). The season didn’t end for NGU, as they will play in NCAA DII Southeast Regional Tournament.
Martin Zelenka was having a much better time, when his Pitt Community played Region 10 tournament. They started with 2 wins, but then they lost the following two game. Zelenka excelled especially in the second game, where he had 2 HR. He was also nominated to All-Region 10 roster before the tournament. Nevertheless, Zelenka’s season ended and we could soon see him back in Extraliga.
Tomáš Říčný played three games for Northeastern Junior College. He had especially good third game, where he had 3 hits, despite his team losing 1-3. Říčný had 6 hits from 12 AB in the series, also earning 3 RBI. He will now play in NJC Region IX Tournament.
