After returning from USA Vojtěch Menšík headed straight to the national team

Vojtěch Menšík only arrived from the overseas, where he studies, on Friday. Things moved quickly and he already played for the national on Saturday during the All Star Game in Choceň.

Menšík was given a leadoff spot and it was he who scored the first run after an error from Brandon Smith. The game finished in as 2-2 tie, which didn’t sit well with the national team infielder. “I don’t like that we only played seven innings and that was it. I would like the game to be finished next time. I think there’s enough pitchers for the full nine innings,” admitted right after the game ended.

One couldn’t tell the younger of Menšík brothers had a long journey under his belt. Beside the run, he also had a hit and was errorless in the defense. “It was similar in the previous year, when I came to playoff. I had a good night sleep. I felt alright,” he responded to our question on what it was like to play so early after the arrival.

Czech fans will get to see him at the upcoming Prague Baseball Week. As for his goals, he is taking it slow. “I need to get some game time. I didn’t play for a whole season after all. I will take every at-bat pitchy by pitch.”

Beside the national team, Menšík also joins Hroši Brno. The question is whether he will be able to finish the season in the country due to his school responsibilities.
