Czech national team won Prague Baseball Week
It took several years, but Czech national team finally got their win at Prague Baseball Week, after they won their fourth game. They beat BBJO Globetrotters on Saturday.
Globetrotters defended the first place from the previous PBW and it was they who took the lead first after a solo homerun from Russel Strilchuk. They increased their lead in the second inning to 3-0 thanks to Steven Anderson and it seemed that Martin Schneider’s charm won’t help Czechs this time.
But the third inning brought a rare moment. Filip Moštěk scored his first homerun for the national team and kickstarted an excellent inning where Czechs came back from 0-3 to take 7-3 lead. Eagles Park then erupted in euphoria again in the sixth inning when Marek Chlup blasted a two run homerun.
The opponent was showing their claws in the seventh inning, when they scored two runs against Lukáš Hlouch, and they decreased the deficit to 4 runs.
But Czech coaches sent Jan Novák on the mound in the ninth inning. Globetrotters loaded the bases against him with one out, but defense showed cool heads and they wrapped up the game without allowing any more runs.
