Czechs beat Globetrotters during the preparation for PBW

Czech national team played a seven inning friendly game against the last year’s Prague Baseball Week winners a day before the start of a new edition. Czechs won 9-4 getting a good momentum before the tournament.

Czechs started with Lukáš Ercoli on the mound. He threw three scoreless inning. Hroši pitcher also only allowed one hit and striked out three batters.

Matěj Menšík had even better game in the first three innings, when he gave Czech the lead with two solo homeruns. The score then changed in the fourth inning after Jakub Kubica‘s sacrificial hit. National team took advantage of a defensive error in the fifth inning and was leading 6-0 after scoring three runs.

The sixth inning saw Globetrotters start their offense. Everything started with a hit from Bustamante, incorrectly read by Marek Chlup which resulted into a triple. A moment later Peter Saldana hit the ball behind the fence and Globetrotters scored their first two runs. However, Czech responded with three runs of their own in the following half inning, mainly thanks to a double from Marek Chlup, which scored two runs.

Armani Henderson Volpe blasted a solo homerun in the seventh inning, lowering Globetrotters’ deficit to 4-9. Since this was a friendly game, Czech finished the bottom half of the inning, where Martin Zelenka hit a three run homerun.

Pavel Chadim’s team will play their first game of PBW on Wednesday at 18:30 against New South Wales.
