Draci Brno beat Amsterdam Pirates in Champions Cup

After Arrows beat Bonn, Czech fans hoped Draci Brno will get to live through a similar story. Brno team played a close game against Amsterdam, where they lost their lead in the very end only to take it back with a walk-off.

Draci had a great start to the game. They shocked the home team with three runs. Draci offense started with a single from Filip Moštěk for Arnošt Dubový to add a triple and Anders Angulo sealed the deal with a double.

Jhenderson Hurtado showed a good pitching on the mound, as he continues his momentum from Extraliga and he kept his Champions Cup opponents scoreless. In the end he threw 6.2 innings with 10 strikeouts.

Pirates managed to tie the game after his substitution. First, we got to see Jackson Solarte who had a bit of a rough outing when he allowed 2 runs and had to be substituted in the eighth inning by Juan Jaime. Jaime allowed the third run in the ninth inning.

Fortunately, Draci had to bottom half of the inning and they used it to perfection. Jakub Hajtmar started the inning with a hit, for Martin Pernička to follow the suit. Michal Šindelka was tasked with advancing the runners to scoring position and he did just that. Amsterdam then intentionally walked the ninth batter of the lineup Jakub Winkler in a attempt to play a double play. However, Draci had their best batter ready on deck in Filip Moštěk. He gave Draci the win with his third hit of the day.

Draci followed Arrows giving Czech teams a good start to the tournament. Furthermore, they were also more active in the offense, when compared to their opponent and they didn’t give them many options to win. Now they have two more games ahead and another win would give them a much better chance to advance into the semifinals.
