Excellent! Czechs awarded wild card for U18 World Cup
World Baseball and Softball Confederation announced a very positive news for Czech fans after they awarded a wild card to this year’s U18 World Cup to the country.
Czechs finished in the third place after Netherlands and Spain at the European Championship they hosted. This position meant they wouldn’t advance directly. There were, however, 10 teams that qualified for the tournament, with two places left. One of them was awarded to the Czech Republic, who will play U18 World Cup for the first time since 2015, when it was played in Osaka, Japan. Second one to Puerto Rico.
WBSC also announced the groups of the cup, which will take place between 31st of August and 10th of September in Taiwan. Czechs will be a part of Group A, along with the hosts, South Korea, Mexico, Australia and Porto Rico.
Czech Republic played U18 World Cup seven times so far, with the best finish in 1999 in Taiwanese Kaohsiung where they finished 10th.
