EXL: Tempo moved to the second spot. Eagles beat Sokol
Extraliga continued with three games on Saturday. And it didn’t go well for the home teams.
Sokol Hluboká – Eagles Praha 4-8
After winning on Friday, Hluboká could get their hopes up on winning their first series in TOP 6. But they needed to beat Eagles for the second time. However, they were unable to do so. Prague team started Emmanuel Herrera and he had a brilliant game, after he allowed 3 runs in six innings and gave his team a chance to win.
Eagles scored in the first inning, when Petr Zýma‚s solo homerun gave them the lead. It was the first homerun of the season for experienced national team player. Prague added more runs in the following inning, one of which came from David Bauer who returned home from abroad.
Sokol scored for the first time in the bottom half of the fifth inning, when they were 7 runs behind, after Joseph Enea blasted a two run homerun. He had a good game in general as he finished with 2 HR. The second one only adjusted the score to 4-8.
Hluboká lost six out of seven games in TOP 6, which decreased their chances to advance to semifinals. On the other hand Eagles currently hold 4-4 record, which they can improve at home on Sunday.
Tempo Praha – Třebíč Nuclears 4-0 and 14-2 (F/7)
Tempo had a very successful trip to Třebíč when they beat Nuclears three times in 24 hours and move to the second place in TOP 6. Nuclears, on the other hand dropped out of a semifinals spot.
The first game was close, as both pitchers controlled the game. Ondřej Vank left with a win when he didn’t allow any hits in six innings and Tempo could start thinking about a no-hitter. But they lost it an inning later after a hit from Jan Bilíček. Tempo had Tadeáš Kalčev at that point, who continued the performance of his teammate and he kept the opponents scoreless. Tempo scored two runs against Jeff Barto and they set the final score at 4-0 in the eighth inning thanks to a two run homerun from Martin Zelenka.
While Nuclears kept up in the first game, the second looked anything but. Their starter Lukáš Smejkal only threw the first inning and he was then substituted with score 0-1. This didn’t stop Tempo offense who added 12 runs in the following three innings which basically decided the game. Třebíč didn’t have a good defensive game when they made 5 defensive errors. Keibert Petit had 3 H and 4 RBI for Tempo with Michal Zelenka adding 3 H, 3 RBI and 3 R of his own.
