EXL: Winning Friday for Hroši and Draci
Extraliga’s TOP 6 continued with 2 more games on Friday. And both Brno teams took a win after they beat their opponents away.
Třebíč Nuclears – Draci Brno 4-6
Despite a close final score, the game was controlled by Brno team for a long time. They started with Juan Jaime on the mound and he had his best game of the season, when he didn’t allow any runs in 7 innings. Nuclears only had 2 hits against him and were striked out 8 times.
Draci managed to score against Lukáš Hlouch in the second inning, after Martin Pernička scored in a run. Martin Kalábek then added 2 more RBI in the third inning when he hit a double with bases loaded. Draci added 4th run in the 5th inning.
Home team sent Lukáš Pacal on the mound in the sixth inning. He allowed Draci only two hits, but they were solo homeruns in both cases. Andreas Angulo and Milan Prokop thus increased Brno lead to 6-0.
But Nuclears managed to make the game much more dramatic in the eighth inning. Draci sent Vojtěch Ventruba on the mound and he was welcomed by a double from Jan Bilíček. He was then sent home by Kamil Pejchal and few moments later Russell Strilchuk added a triple. But Jacksom Solarte didn’t allow bigger drama, as he didn’t let any more batters on the bases for the remainder of the game. Draci thus returned the loss to Nuclears and will get a chance to win the series on Saturday at home.
Eagles Praha – Hroši Brno 0-10
Eagles have plenty of good games at home this season, however, there are always exception, such as was their Friday duel against Hroši. Tomáš Ondra, who had one of his best games of the season, dominated the game, when he threw a complete game shutout second time this year. The first, too, came against Eagles. This time he managed to do so with 13 strikeouts, which was his career best.
His teammates helped him out in the first inning, after Tyler Smith blasted a two run homerun. Samuel Steigert then didn’t allow any more runs until the 5th inning, which came after a hit from Petr Čech.
While Hroši managed to get hits off German pitcher, they had to wait till the 8th inning to increase their lead against, as they added 3 more runs. First Daniel Ondroušek’s double scored in both runners on the bases, for Marek Krejčiřík‘s triple to send him home, too. Hroši’s second baseman had a good offensive day and in the end he only missed a homerun.
Eagles decided to sent Mikuláš Hanuš on the mound for the last inning. Hroši were able to get the score to double digits against him and in the end could celebrate a decisive win.
