FC: Apollo in a complicated situation after a tough loss against Swedish Raättvik
The third game in Federations Cup saw Apollo face Swedish Rättvik BSK. It, however, didn’t go well for the Slovak champions and in the end they lost 1-19.
The first four innings looked promising as neither of the teams managed to score runs. But it was the fifth inning that spelled doom for Bratislava. Opponent’s batters hit Juraj Bartók’s pitches and in the end he had to be substituted. But Anthony Barreto wasn’t able to stop Swedish offense and Rättvik scored 11 runs in the inning.
With a good mindset, Swedes added more runs in the following innings, until they stopped at 19. Apollo had only 5 hits and the first, and their only, run was batted in in the seventh inning thanks to Jakub Horáček.
The game ended prematurely due to a mercy rule. Rättvik added another win in the tournament and we currently have 4 teams with record 1-2. Apollo still has a chance to advance, but another loss will practically end all their hopes. Bratislava will also need to keep on the other end of the table, as the last place will relegate them out of Federations Cup for the next season.
