FCq: Angels won’t play in qualification final
Angels Trnava played the semifinal game against Croatian Zagreb on Saturday. But they were unable to get the win, signaling the end of the tournament for them.
Zagreb took the lead in the first inning, when Fran Stančič Vidrač blasted the second pitch from Michal Puškár behind the fence. Croatians added two more runs in the inning.
Trnava had to wait for their first hit till the third inning. An inning later saw them score their first run, when Puškár blasted a two run homerun. Angels‘ hopes were getting up when Martin Behúl’s hit batted in another run and the score was 3-4.
However, the bottom half of the inning saw Zagreb add 4 runs. Angels changed their pitching, but even this wasn’t enough and Croats added 4 more runs in the remainder of the game. Angels, on the other hand, only scored once, thanks to Samuel Chrvala.
The loss means the end of the tournament for Angels, but it also means Slovakia won’t have a spot in Federations Cup in the upcoming year. After Apollo’s relegation from the third best European tournament, Slovakia will have to qualify again in the following year.
