NoEXL: There are still three unbeaten teams
After the second round of Promotion League we can almost certainly say that the battle for the two top spots narrowed to three teams. Arrows, Technika, nor Kotlářka lost a game yet and we can expect the two teams to play Extraliga in the following season to be from this trio.
It’s especially Arrows that seem to have everything well in hand after they beat Blansko decisively and currently have score 89-7. Their bats are led mainly by American Rory Graf-Brennen, who currently holds BA .750 and OBP .806. Trio Boris Bokaj, Ondřej Satoria and Jan Kozel is yet to allow a run to be scored.
Technika is relying on two foreigners. Brandon Smith and Parker Thode currently have 47 strikeouts together and are the only two players to have more than 15 K each. Brno team, however, allowed the most runs to be score from the trio of unbeaten teams (30), which doesn’t bode well for them for split situation. Nevertheless, Technika was able to handle three difficult games in Jablonec. They had to fight to get the win especially in the second game, as Brno got their winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Matěj Brabec on the mound helped his team to the win with 12 K in 8 innings. A heroic performance from Jablonec’s new man Mason Wells wasn’t enough despite only allowing 3 hits and striking out 7 batters in 7 innings.
Neither Kotlářka, nor Skokani didn’t hide their ambition to fight for Extraliga spot. The two teams faced each other in the previous week and the series went better for Prague team. Skokani managed to keep up with Kotlářka in the first game as they lost 0-5, but the second saw Prague start quickly and eventually win 18-1 after 7 innings. Olomouc didn’t have good pitching as they allowed 22 hits and their defense also made 6 errors. For this reason Skokani still wait for their first win.
Due to Champions Cup we won’t see Ostrava this week, but we can still look forward to the series between Blansko and Technika, as well as the one between Blesk and Skokani.
