EXL: Draci and Třebíč won after a break
Extraliga continued after two weeks of break and the new round brought wins to Draci Brno and Třebíč Nuclears.
Draci traveled to Prague to play Eagles and they started the game quickly after Andres Angulo and Martin Kalábek batted in two runs in the first inning. Home team scored in the third inning for the first time as they tied the game thanks to Marcus Weinzimer and Petr Zýma. Draci, however, took the lead again in the fourth inning as they got first two batter on bases. Martin Červinka hit a ball into a double play, but it also resulted into the third run for Brno team.
Since then pitchers took over the game, not allowing any more runs to be scored. Home starter Emmanuel Herrera remained on the mound for six innings. Matyáš Trčka, who only allowed Draci one hit and striked out four, then added the remaining three innings. Brno started Jhenderson Hurtado on the mound, who gave his team six innings with nine strikeouts. David Mergans then came to close the game and similar to Trčka he only allowed one hit and striked out five batters.
Třebíč came back in the end
Fans in Třebíč had to wait till the bottom of the fourth inning to see the first run scored, after home team took advantage of the visitor’s error. Alec Lemmon on Hluboká’s mound, however, didn’t allow Nuclears more in six innings. Visitors took advantage of Lukáš Hlouch substitution in the sixth inning, helped by Sokol’s error, and they took the lead with three runs scored.
Hluboká increased their lead in the eighth inning, when Vasyl Zhupanin batted in the fourth Sokol run. The bottom half of the inning came as a nightmare for the visitors, however. Everything started with a triple from Miroslav Křivánek and since they visitors couldn’t stop the home team. In the end Nuclears had 12 batters in the box and scored 7 runs. Lukáš Pacal helped himself with two strikeouts in the bottom half of the inning and closed the game with Třebíč winning 8-4. Nuclears improved their record to 4-6, however, they are still second to last in the standings, currently ahead of Sokol who only have 2 wins from 9 games. The teams will continue the series over the weekend.
