U12 EC: Czechs with a fantastic comeback against Netherlands
Czech U12 national team played their last group stage game on Friday at European Championship. And after a fantastic performance they beat Netherlands in five innings.
Despite this, the beginning of the game was a nightmare for Czechs, as Dutch scored 7 runs in the first inning and coaches had to substituted the starter. Czech took one inning back in the following half inning, but Netherlands scored one back next. At that moment nobody knew these would be the last Dutch runs scored in the game.
Czechs kickstarted their batts and added six runs of their own. The next inning was even better for them. Not only Adam Cacek kept his opponents scoreless, Czechs also scored 10 runs and they took the lead for the first time. In the fifth inning they increased their lead to 10 runs, which meant to game ended on mercy rule.
There was a trio of Czech players who had three hits, and Lukáš Vrba blasted a two run homerun. Adam Kupský then threw the last two innings, where he didn’t allow any hits and managed it all with on 14 pitches.
After winning 18-8 Czechs finished in the first place in Group B and will play the second team from Group A in the semifinals. Their opponent will be the loser from Italy – Germany game.
