EXL: Lukáš Ercoli won’t play for Hroši next year
After two season with Hroši, Lukáš Ercoli won’t add another one. The club announced the news via their social pages.
Lukáš Ercoli joined Hroši in 2021 on loan from Kotlářka Praha, which dropped to the First League that year. At the same time, he made clear that if Kotlářka returned to Extraliga, he would go back. For this reason announcement should not come as a surprise.
Ercoli had a great year 2022, when he was one of the best pitchers in Extraliga with 98.1 IP and ERA 2.29, which made it the best season of his career. He and his team played Czech Series, where they lost to Draci. This performance earned him a spot in Pavel Chadim’s team where he played in the qualification for World Baseball Classic. He didn’t have the best start of the 2023 season, as he especially struggled with control. But his form returned by the end of the competition and he finished Extraliga season with a six-inning no-hitter that helped Hroši to bronze medals.
We are unlikely to see Ercoli at the upcoming European Championship. The player himself already said he will prefer the organizational part of the tournament instead.
