Hroši came back from behind in the second game in bronze game series
The second game of the series to determine who would finish the third in Extraliga was played in Prague on Sunday. And Brno showed a nice comeback to forced the decisive game at home.
Hroši sent in the national team pitcher Lukáš Ercoli to start on the mound. Home team decided to played Czech-Canadian David Wilson. Both starters had a great game for the first four innings and the game was close at 1-0 to Hroši.
The fifth inning saw the score change rapidly, however. First, Tyler Smith batted in the second Hroši run, for Eagles to respond with three of their own in the bottom half of the inning and force Ercoli out of the game. Visitors also sent in a new pitcher in Matěj Netopilík. He, however, was substituted an inning later, as home team continued their pressure and kept racking the runs. The end of the game was thus entrusted to Tomáš Ondra. He only allowed one run in the seventh inning and Eagles were thus leading 6-2.
But Hroši mounted a comeback in the eighth inning. At this point it was Vasko Kolev who stood on the mound against them, but he didn’t finish the inning. Eagles substituted him with Mikuláš Hanuš who allowed a three run homerun with score 6-4. Hroši took the lead.
Tomáš Ondra managed to keep a close lead when he only allowed one runner on base in two innings. Thanks to this Hroši won 7-6 and they ensured the final game of the series will be played on their home turf the following Saturday.
