Apollo and Tranva’s youngsters will play for Slovak title
Slovak Baseball League know its finalists. Reigning champions from Apollo Bratislava will face Trnava B, which is made out of U23 players.
Bratislava played Skalica in the semifinals, who beat Fooze Bratislava in the wild card game. But youngsters from Záhorie were unable to keep up with Apollo and lost both games of the series with cumulative score 2-33.
The second series was a bit closer, as Angels Trnava A team faced their B team. The first game showed that the youngsters want to show what they are made of and they beat their seniors 7-3. The battle of generations was out there to see, as Roman and Samuel Holekši faced each other on the mound in the second half of the game. The second game was also controlled by the younger team, who took 3-0 lead in the first inning and they slowly increased it to 15-1 after seven innings. Ján Fančovič had a great game in the offense with 4 hits. Starter Samuel Deák threw 5 scoreless innings and striked out 9. Trnava pitchers had 24 Ks in 16 innings.
Apollo and Angels meet in the finals once again. The same series was played for the past 9 seasons and the title always went to Apollo. Bratislava will have a chance to prolong their streak to 10 wins. Trnava, on the other hand, is hoping to win another title after 10 years, as their previos one came in 2013.
