Blesk and SaBaT will meet in the First League finals
While Extraliga is already wrapped up, First League is yet to know its champion. The semifinals from the previous week decided who we get to see in the finals.
Jablonec was the first to get their finals spot after they beat Skokani 2-0 in the series. They had to come back from 0-2 after two innings in the first game. Brett Lindsay and Michal Kubina were in the middle of the comeback, as they both had 2 RBI. an Pesničák and Jose Balaguera on the mound didn’t allow any more runs and Blesk won 5-2.
Skokani had a better start to the second game as well, when they scored 3 runs in the second inning. However, this wasn’t enough for the win either, as Jablonec first lower the deficit to 3-2 in the third inning, and then added four more innings to snatch the lead. Olomouc add a run by the end of the game, but their 4 runs to Blesk’s 6 wasn’t enough for the win. Jablonec won the series and advanced to the finals.
The second series lasted three games. SaBaT started it better, as Kotlářka helped them out with six errors. SaBaT didn’t need to be asked twice and won 7-2. The second game also looked better for SaBaT for the first four innings as they built 3-0 lead. However, Ktolářka found a recipe against Kryštof Dupal, and they first scored two in the fifth inning. SaBaT improved their lead by one run in the sixth inning, but Kotlářka then added two HR thanks to Wesley Roemer and Jakub Vančura. And took 6-4 lead. They slowly increased it to 12-4. Their starter Vít Hrdlička remained on the mound for 9 innings and had 10 SO.
Stadium Na Markétě hosted the decisive third game. Visitors from Trója were dominating, when they scored 4 runs in the first inning. Furthermore, they had Mikuláš Hanuš on the mound, who only allowed 1 run in seven innings (0 ER). SaBaT also had a good offensive game, finishing with 11 hits and 13 runs. For this reason the game finished after 7 innings.
The finals of First League will be played between SaBaT Praha and Blesk Jablonec. The first game will be played on Saturday, with the end of the series planned for Sunday in Jablonec.
