Blesk Jablonec defended First League title
While Jablonec said it was time for a rebuild by the end of the year they can’t claim the season was anything but success. They finished their run over the weekend by claiming the First League title.
Jablonec the road to the triumph on Saturday in Prague, where they beat SaBaT 7-4. Blesk had a good start of the game, taking advantage of defensive errors in the first inning, which resulted in their 2-0 lead. Home starter Kryštof Kavan allowed 5 run in 6 innings in the end, however, all of them were unearned. Blesk sent in young Jan Pesničák and he repaid their trust with a solid performance where he kept the opponents scoreless for 4 innings. SaBaT scored against him in the fifth inning and they forced Blesk to a substitution after they scored 3 runs. Jablonec sent in an unconventional player Michal Kubina. Kubina managed to cause trouble to opposing batters and he only allowed 1 run in 3.1 innings. Lukáš Roubíček then closed the game which Blesk won 7-4.
The series moved to northern Bohemia on Sunday and Jablonec started the second game better. Two run homerun from Zdeněk Machačka in the first inning gave them the lead. SaBat was behind for the entire game, and they were unable to catch up with their opponent. Home duo Jakub Suchard and Lukáš Roubíček walked fewer players than visiting Mikuláš Hanuš and Jan Fejt, which turned out to be one of the decisive factors of the game. SaBaT loaded the bases with two outs at the very end of the game, but home team managed to get out of the jam and win 7-5 to celebrate First League title.
