U18 WC: A good performance against Taiwan wasn’t enough to get a win in the end
Young Czech national team faced the hosts in another game at World Cup. Czechs played well, unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to get the win.
The game started at 2pm CEST and Czechs started well, when they ended the first Taiwanese offense after three batters, also thanks to a double play.
Unfortunately, the next inning practically decided the winner. Czech starter Adrián Mück had issues with strikezone and with 3 HBP, Taiwan scored 4 runs. Frýdek-Místek player got his bearings afterwards and he kept the opponents scoreless. Albert Pražák followed with a good outing when he threw two innings without a run allowed. Max Lukeš then finished the seventh inning.
Czechs were unable to do much against Yen-En Wang for three innings. Things changed in the fourth, when Šimon Klacl and Michal Šindelka both had a hit. Czechs then loaded the bases after a walk, with two outs, unfortunately, they were unable to score any runs.
The team entered the bottom half of the seventh inning well, when first three batters got on bases. Michal Pokorný then reached base on balls and Czechs got their first run of the game. Their opponent didn’t allow them more, however, and the game finished 1-4.
Czechs will now play an important game against Australia on Tuesday, which will also be their opponent in the Placement group. The result of the game will count for the future games.
