Czechs dropped a spot in WBSC Ranking
World Baseball and Softball Confederation published its baseball ranking on Thursday. Czechs dropped a spot and are currently world’s number 15 with 1900 points. It is now clear Czechs won’t qualify for Premier 12 tournament.
It was Columbia who jumped ahead of Czechs in the ranking thanks to winning Panama Games and earning 430 points for the ranking. Czechs took 232 points for the 5th spot in European Championship and 12 points for the wins in friendlies against Italy and Netherlands. Looking at the points which will be subtracted from 2019 at the end of the year, it is now clear Czechs won’t reach the desired top 12 and they won’t qualify to Premier 12.
The unsuccessful European Championship also meant Italy dropped below Columbia as they only got 159 points. This means Italy was left at the gates of Premier 12 by 46 points, the number they could easily have were they to finish in top 4 of the European Championship.
There is no chance in the first spot, as Japan keeps their position. Mexico moves to the second place after finishing 3rd in Panama Games. USA drops to the third place.
Slovakia remains in 41st place with 106 points.
