College Baseball: Kovala was saving Georgia Tech. O’Rourke with the first homerun
There were six games in the previous college baseball week with Czech players in them.
Daniel Padyšák played a game for Georgia against Ole Miss. He went on the mound in the sixth inning, where the opponent took 2-1 lead and his teammate was unable to finish the inning. Czech pitcher managed to handle the situation with two runners on bases with five pitch strikeout and he halted the opponent offense. Unfortunately, his teammates were unable to mount a comeback and Georgia lost 2-3.
Michal Kovala, played two games for Georgia Tech, both as a reliever. He entered the first game against Auburn in the first inning, when starter Logan McGuire had issues getting out of the inning and allowed 7 runs. Czech pitcher then halted the opponent’s offense and pitched two scoreless innings. In the end, Georgia Tech lost 8-12. He then played his second game on Saturday against Virginia. There he finished the sixth inning with two outs, when Virgian managed to score 6 runs and take the lead. None of the runs went to Kovala, however, an the only run he allowed was unearned. The game was decided in the extra innings and it was Virginia who could celebrate the 8-7 win.
Jan Pospíši played for Pitt Community against Lenoir and he helped his team to 5-4 win with a hit and a run.
Nicolas O’Rourke played two games for Diablo Valley. First against Cosumnes River where he played in the left field and blasted a two run homerun. It was the first homerun of the season for the Czech player, but it unfortunately wasn’t enough for the win. On Saturday he played against the same opponent and this time he pitched the last three innings. From his point of view they went perfectly, as he didn’t allow any hits, nor he walked anyone and he also added 4 strikeouts. Unfortunately, his team was already 1-14 behind and his performance didn’t manage to change the result.
