EXL: Hluboká walkoff. Close win for Ostrava

Since the game in Třebíč wasn’t played due to rain, there were only the teams from bottom half of Extraliga table playing on Friday. And we got to see two close games.

Arrows started the game against Tempo aggressively, when the first batters hit a double and Ostrava quickly took 2-0 lead. Ali Ascanio who pitched for Tempo, wasn’t helped much by his defense, who made several mistakes.

Ondřej Satoria started much better, when he pitched 2 scoreless innings. However, Tempo took the lead in the third inning with 3 homeruns and suddenly they were winning 3-2. Hosts took advantage of an error in the fourth inning and Arrows tied the game.

The winner was decided in the second half of the game. Tempo sent Keider Herrera on the mound in the fifth inning. Ondřej Satoria was substituted during the seventh inning, when he had 8 SO. Jan Kozel came in for him, but he doesn’t have a good year. This time, however, he had a great game and he didn’t any runners on bases in 2.1 IP and struck out 4 instead. The eighth inning show us who the winner would be, when Aleš Navrátil hit the ball through 3rd base and batted in Dan Černý. Thanks to this Arrows won 4-3.

Hluboká is not the last anymore

Home team also took an early lead in Southern Bohemia, when they were already 3-0 ahead after two innings. But in this case the visitors managed to tied the game as well. It all started in the fourth inning thanks to a solo homerun from Adam Matuška, for Kotlářka to add 3 more runs in the fifth inning, which forced the Alec Lemmon’s substitution.

Kotlářka started the game with Jeroným Hruška, who was substituted by Max Lukeš in the fourth inning. Angel Vilchez stepped on the mound in the sixth inning, but Hluboká managed to tie the game after a defensive error.

In the ninth inning Kotlářka had a chance to take the lead, when Tomáš Burkert started the inning with a triple. However, the visitors played an unsuccessful squeeze play and Bukert was out. The host punished their opponent in the bottom half of the inning. Martin Mužík was hit by pitch and so Roemer came in for Vilchez. However, he was unable to stop the home bats. First, Matěj Vlach welcomed him with a successful hit, for Michal Cajz to walk off the game and Hluboká get to celebrate a 5-4 win.

With the win Hluboká moved up from the bottom of the table, which now belongs to Kotlářka.
