PBW: Czechs lost 1-3 to Taiwan
Czech national team had to wait till Sunday to start their first game at Prague Baseball Week. Their game against Taiwan had to be postponed due to rain and thus it was only played for 7 innings.
Czechs started with Lukáš Pacal on the mound and young Třebíč Nuclears pitcher threw two scoreless innings. He also added 3 strikeouts.
World’s #5 first scored in the third inning against Filip Čapka, when Yu-Ching Tseng blasted a three run homerun.
Pavel Chadim’s team were able to get on bases, but it was a while before they managed to score. The run came in the fifth inning, when Jan Pospíšil batted in the first run for the national team. There were also a few meters missing in the hit from Martin Mužík and Czechs could tie the game.
Taiwan then loaded the bases in the sixth inning but Ondřej Vank managed to get out of the jam with a strikeout. In the bottom half, Czechs could get some runs of their own when they had two runners in the scoring positions with one out after a hit from Martin Zelenka. Pitcher Yu-Chieh Wang was able to get a strikeout against Šimon Klacl and Milan Prokop.
Since the seventh inning didn’t bring any runs, Taiwan won 3-1.
„It was a great game. Opponents were ready, it was a difficult opponent. They didn’t allow us much. A great game. We enjoyed it, it was fun. I was worried fans wouldn’t want to come because it was rainy, but it was great how many came. It was quiet full here and it was great to see it. I’m glad for it,“ said pitcher Lukáš Pacal.
Czech team will play another game on Sunday when they face Germany.
