Draci started Czech Series with a huge win
The final 2024 Extraliga series started on Friday between Draci Brno and Hroši Brno. The reigning champions entered it better when they won 10-0.
As expected, both teams started with foreign pitchers. For Draci it was Jhenderson Hurtado, while Toru Murata started for Hroši. Both pitchers dominated the game for a long time and fans had to wait till the sixth inning to see the first run scored in YD Arena.
The bottom half of the sixth inning started with a double from Alex Monsalve. Afterwards, Michal Šindelka played a bunt and inaccurate throw to the third base meant Draci scored the first run. Filip Moštek and Šimon Klacl then batted in two more runs.
Despite runs scored, visitors left Murata on the mound for the seventh inning, which Draci took a full advantage of. First, Milan Prokop blasted a two run homerun, for Martin Pernička to bat in the sixth run. Only then was Murata substituted for Matěj Brabec.
Draci took advantage of some defensive jitters in the eighth inning and Monsalve batted in two runs. Martin Červinka then became another her, when he batted in two more runs and with the score at 10-0 the game finished on mercy rule.
Draci finished the game with only one pitcher as Hurtado earned a complete game shutout. He only allowed 2 hits in 8 innings and struck out 9 batters.
The reigning champions are closer to defending the title after the first game. The series now moves to Jundrov, where the second game of the series will be played on Saturday at 15:00 CSET.
