EXL: SaBaT returns to Extraliga. They will play in stead of Tempo
Previous season’s runner-up experienced an incredible downfall this year, which culminated into a demotion to First League. This marks the first time in the history (according to Jiří Vlach from baseball-stat.cz) for Extraliga finalist to be demoted from the top league a following year.
This comes despite the fact that Tempo had their future in their own hands before the weekend. To be certain to remain in Extraliga, they needed to beat the winner of Promotion League Třebíč. But they were unable to do this even once. Furthermore, their batter had 22 strikeouts, which tied the record from the game between Blansko and Olomouc in 2017 (statistics are kept since 2016). Prague team was closest to the win on Sunday at home, as the game was tied at 2-2 after 9 innings. However, Tempo made errors in the extra innings and Nuclears managed to go ahead by 3 runs and they managed to hold their lead.
Sokol Hluboká managed to secure their position for 2025 Extraliga on Saturday after they beat Kotlářka 6-3. South Bohemians were lead mainly by a duo of foreign pitcher Austin Hassani and Alec Lemmon.
After being demoted in 2020 SaBaT returns to the top league. In the end they only needed one win against Technika which they earned on Saturday. Technika couldn’t win despite the national team player Matěj Menšík helping them out. Prague team had a great season winning 25 games in a row in First League. Team from Trója will play their fourth season in Extraliga.
