EXL: Big comeback! Martin Červenka will wear the Kotlářka Praha Jersey again

Currently, arguably the best Czech baseball player, Martin Červenka, is changing teams again after a year-long stint with the Brno Hroši. And it’s a big homecoming. For the first time since leaving after the 2020 season, he will be playing for the Prague-based team Kotlářka. The club announced this news on its social media.

The 32-year-old Martin Červenka played for Kotlářka in the Czech Extraliga for six seasons and helped the Prague team secure its only championship title in history during the 2015 playoffs. However, in 2022, he moved to Eagles Praha and subsequently spent one season each with Tempo Praha and the aforementioned Hroši. In each season, he significantly contributed to his team reaching at least the semifinals. With Tempo and Hroši, he also played in the finals, but each time his team fell short of winning the gold.

Now, the future member of the Czech Baseball Hall of Fame will have the chance to help his home club restore its former glory. After earning bronze in 2020, Kotlářka dropped to 8th place in 2021 and then lost its Extraliga status in relegation playoffs. The team regained its place in the league with a successful playoff in 2023, and last season, the rejuvenated squad proved that it has what it takes to compete at the Extraliga level.

In recent days, Kotlářka has signed its second catcher, previously announcing the arrival of Šimon Drápela. On the other hand, Martin Červenka played more games at third base than behind the plate for the Hroši this year. At third base, the most games this season were played by young David Křeček, followed by Wesley Roemer and Keibert Petit. Petit was also Kotlářka’s primary catcher.
