EXL: Draci Brno will pay their Czech players

Czech baseball teams tend to be mainly amateurs, with professional contracts only signed by the foreigners. Draci Brno now try to change this and will now offer contract to Czech players as well.

Club denoted this process as „miniprofesionalization“ on their web pages. It seems the club will now move to be a semi-professional and will spend over 2 million CZK for the salary of the Czech players. In the previous years it was common for the foreign players to be the ones with a professional contract, while some money was played to the national players by the club.

Our core players behave like professionals. Baseball is their priority and they decided to connect their career with Draci Brno. Players did their part. The role fo the club is to prepare such support system that will respect their time spent in baseball and will motivate them similar to the players in the countries with developed baseball. System also remembers younger players, who have their careers ahead of them, and are willing to play baseball full-time. Simply – the training will become a part-time job, they improve and don’t need to look for part-time jobs elsewhere and they focus on baseball,“ said club’s general manager Arnošt Nesňal for draci.cz.

The most successful baseball club in the Czech Republic heads in an unexplored direction and becomes a pioneer in this field. Hopefully this step will be an inspiration for the remaining Czech clubs and help development of the baseball in the country.
