Peter Moylan: Extraliga? It was a better level of competition than I expected
Czech baseball league is amateur league but you could see several great players there in past. Wesley Roemer with Triple-A experience pitched 2 no-hitters and won 2 czech titles. Terrel Joyce was last two years real hitting machine. Dondrei Hubbard started last year in Extraliga, later signed with San Diego Padres organization. We saw as well several players with major league experience – Deago Roger, Greg McCarthy. But Peter Moylan is first former MLB player with huge major league experience in Extraliga. For european fans was his signing with Draci Brno big surprise.
Peter pitched 12 innings in first phase of league because of his commitment in Fox Sports. But than he pitched 38 inning in postseason with 3.08 ERA and 33 strikeouts.
Peter, you spent one season in czech Extraliga. How did you enjoy time here in Czech Republic?
I loved every minute of my time in Czech. The people are amazing the food was incredible and the baseball was a lot of fun.
You played professional baseball for a long time. How it was for you to came here where almost every player is playing on amateur level.
I was used to playing amateur baseball because I played in Australia, its very similar to baseball in Czech as far as popularity.
In one interview you said, that some players from czech league could play on Triple-A. What about all league. Where can you class Extraleague? Single-A or higher?
Now I sit and wait for MLB to start!!!! Hopefully soon so I can work for Fox Sports South.
