EXL: Eagles beat Tempo in the first game of 2021 TOP 6
Extraliga was played unconventionally on Tuesday. And the first game of 2021 TOP 6 stage offered a good show.
It was a pitching duel, as both pitchers dominated the game and the teams only had 7 hits altogether. Home starter Carson Goldsmith continued in his good form from the regular season, he only allowed 1 hits in 5 innings and added 9 SO. Jake Rabinowitz also only allowed 1 hit in 4 innings, but even that was enough for Eagles to score the sole run. The scoring run came after Jan Homolka was walked. Homolka was then moved to the third base by Bryce Aldridge‘s hit and after Michal Zýma‘s sacrificial hit, Eagles took the 1-0 lead.
Visitors were not far from leveling the score in the fourth inning, as Marek Minařík reached third base after long hit from Phillip Steering. However, the referee called out for leaving the base early. Tomáš Duffek, Šimon Blažek and Andrew Cosgrove kept the Eagles narrow win and home team celebrated the win at the end.
