First League: Klasik with a win against SaBaT. Skokani with a sweep

First League continued with more competitive games last weekend.

Klasik Frýdek-Místek – SaBaT Praha 7-6
SaBaT Praha – Klasik Frýdek-Místek 12-5

Frýdek-Místek played at the home field for the first time this year and it was against SaBaT Praha, who played Extraliga in the previous season. Home team wanted to win to keep their hopes of getting to Promotion League alive. And they were successful in the first game. Klasik sent Matyáš Kozel on the mound, who also played for Arrows Ostrava this year. Visitors started with Kryštof Dupal. In the end, both pitchers pitched till extra innings, they allowed 6 runs each. Home team then substituted Kozel for Jakub Kaplan in the tenth inning. Kaplan was able to keep visitors without a run. On the other hand, visitors decided not to change the pitcher and it backfired. After a Ondřej Gurník’s bunt, home team loaded the bases. Matyáš Kozel‘s single was then enough for Klasik win.

In the second game, it was SaBaT who could celebrate. Klasik outhit visitors 16 to 12, but they were only able to get 5 runs. Visitors, thanks to 10 walks, grabbed the 12-5 win.

Pelikans Bučovice – Skokani Olomouc 7-9
Skokani Olomouc – Pelikans Bučovice 6-4

Bučovice played a close game against Skokani at home, but Olomouc swept them anyway. Two experienced players for Skokani were the deciding factor, Marko Vykoukal in the first game and Martin Schneider in the second. Despite the win, Skokani will have to improve their defense, as they produced 10 errors in the double header.

There are four teams, who have a mathematical chance to get to Promotion League and so we can expect interesting games to come. Based on ČBA schedule, the series between Domažlice and Hippos Brno was also supposed to be played over the weekend, however, we couldn’t find the results.
