PBW: U18 beat U23 and took bronze
Czech U18 and U23 didn’t get the chance to fight for the spot in the finals due to canceled games on Friday. Instead, they played each other for the third place on Saturday.
First, U18 played an exhibition game against Sweden that they narrowly lost 1-2. However, they played against U23 without respect, and it was U18 that scored first, when Adam Prudil reached the home base in the second inning. Furthermore, starter Matyáš Němčanský didn’t allow U23 much. U18 added another run in the fourth inning, after Adam Prudil’s hit and Michal Zelenka‚s run.
Jan Konrád entered the game as the pitcher in the fifth inning for U23, however, he didn’t have a good day and had to be substituted in the same inning. U18 managed to increase their lead to 5-0 with three runs. An inning later, the younger national team added two more runs after RBI hits from Matěj Vlach and Milan Prokop. David Bauer, who had an excellent game, had another RBI for the eight U18 run.
U23 managed to load the bases in their half of the seventh inning, but they were only able to score a run, which meant U18 won the game and the bronze medals.
