CEB Cup: Draci won against Therwil in a dramatic game

Only few tens of minutes after the win against Valencia Draci returned back on the field to play against Swiss Therwil. The game started with 4-0 lead for Draci, but they weren’t able to hold it and had to fight for the win till the last inning.

The game, which was postponed on Tuesday, started in the second inning. Draci managed to increase their lead by a run in the third inning and it seemed the game was well in hand. However, bottom of the fourth didn’t go well for the Czech team. After a series of hits and walks, Therwil was only one run away from leveling the score. In the end, they managed to do so in the sixth inning.

If there is something Draci do well on this tournament it’s batting. Martin Červinka and Martin Kalábek opened the seventh inning with doubles, increasing Brno lead to two. They lost it quiet quickly, however, after Sven Erik Leemann got 2 RBI.

Thankfully for Draci, Swiss pitching wasn’t on its best and Eugene Helder gave his team lead with a solo homerun in the eight inning. Pabel Manzanero added another run after hit from Martin Červinka.

However, Draci didn’t have a great pitching day either, as Therwil leveled the score again in the bottom of the eight inning. The game was at 9-9 after nine innings.

Swiss didn’t find a pitcher of sufficient quality to play in the extra innings and Draci took advantage, scoring seven runs. Therwil only responded with one and after the win Draci are at the top of the group table.
